My Approach - Unique, Scientific, and Joyful Learning
Since 2007, I’m guiding singers across multiple genres and levels, as well as speakers, from aspiring actors to experienced professional presenters. Since 2021, I’m also mentoring voice teachers and vocal coaches worldwide, helping them refine their teaching methods.
My voice studio is rooted in joy, science, and personalized discovery: A mixture of evidence-based practice and practice-based evidence. Learning works best when it’s engaging and student / client-led.
Drawing on my rich training (see my CV), I adapt methods, pedagogy and technique to each person’s unique voice, goals, and essence. Together, we embark on a journey to discover the approach that suits you best.
If you’d like to dive deeper into the key topics at the heart of my teaching, I invite you to explore my blog.
The following quote from “Excellence in Singing” by Robert Caldwell and Joan Wall explains beautifully the teaching dynamic I strive for:
The more you include your student in the teaching equation — the more you consider their needs, capabilities, personality, and dreams — the more dynamic your teaching becomes and the less you can predict how you will teach. Like dancing, even when you are leading, you cannot expect to follow a rigid pattern of steps. Throughout the dance, you must adapt to your partner — their balance, pace, rhythms, and movements — and you won’t know exactly where or how you will take the next step. You won’t know where on the dance floor the two of you will end up.
Unpredictability is a special feature of excellent teachers. While they know precisely what they want to accomplish, they don’t know exactly how they will do it. Ask them how they will teach minute by minute and they honestly answer, “I don’t know. It depends on the student.”These teachers are a long way from presenting the same routine to every student.
Instead of plowing over their students, excellent teachers touch just the right problems with just the right solutions. They seem to offer an endless variety of responses to their students, with no two responses the same. And though their methods appear haphazard to an outside observer, their students steadily and reliably improve.
Your Journey, Tailored & Empowering
If you’re a beginner, I’ll help you explore your voice as an instrument and unlock all its beautiful possibilities; building efficient technique, authentic expression, and healthy vocal habits from the very first step.
If you’re an advanced or professional singer or speaker, I’ll help you elevate your artistry by combining technical freedom with powerful, authentic storytelling; so your performances captivate every audience.
Two guiding questions I always ask:
- “Does it sound like how you want it to sound? (Not me or anybody else, but you)”
- “Is it comfortable to make that sound?”
Here’s the magic: your voice today could sound completely different tomorrow, and you can sing every musical style and genre imaginable while protecting and nurturing your vocal health for a lifetime!
Mastering Singing, Speaking, Performance, and Confidence
- Healthy vocal technique is the foundation, not the end goal. Your performance and storytelling matter most.
- Stress resilience: I help you manage performance nerves so you can focus on your voice and message.
- Flexibility in every context: From rehearsal room to stage, your voice becomes reliable and expressive, even in free experimentation.
Holistic Voice Coaching: Mind, Body, Voice
Think of singers and speakers as elite athletes. Voice coaching, like athletic coaching, is holistic and ongoing:
- Centered around the body-mind connection
- Adaptive strategies for physical ànd mental wellness
- Sustained growth over time
Ready? On your mark, get set, go!
“Working with clients who trust me with their voices on such a personal and emotional journey is an incredible honor. I value every step we take together as I guide you toward your full vocal potential. Let’s begin this amazing adventure, because your voice deserves to be heard, celebrated, and shared with the world.”

My Background & Training: 25+ Years of Vocal Expertise
A Lifelong Passion for Voice and Innovation
With over 25 years of dedicated experience, my vocal journey began at the Conservatories of Kortrijk, Ghent and The Hague, rooted in classical technique yet quickly driven by a passion to explore a wide range of musical genres. I thrive on thinking outside the box, integrating global training in diverse vocal methods to develop a versatile, genre-spanning approach.
From opera, heavy metal and rock to commercial pop, musical theatre, and intimate jazz, I have studied, performed, and taught many styles, helping singers master the unique vocal techniques, artistry, and storytelling each genre demands.
This versatility is also grounded in my extensive experience as a singer, which spans solo performances, ensemble work, studio sessions, and composing and publishing my own music.

I pride myself on a continuous commitment to deepening my expertise in voice science, vocal health, diverse techniques and performance psychology – check out my CV! Since 2012, I’ve pursued my own scientific voice research, presenting insights at international symposia and conferences.
Co-Founder & Vice-President of EVTA.be and Council Member of EVTA
In 2011, I co-founded EVTA.be (the Belgian Voice Teachers Association), and served as a council member of EVTA (the European Voice Teachers Association) until 2019. My motivation was to unite the voice pedagogy community under a shared set of professional standards, fostering collaboration and advancing the field of voice education.
In 2019, I launched VocalDrawings.com, a collection of 276 anatomically accurate, simple and inclusive drawings about the voice.

She couples this with her techniques that allow one to manage things like performance anxiety with much greater ease. It’s a win- win as I have in the past 6 months started to perform at jam sessions and more. I love it!

I leave our lessons feeling inspired and with new tools to use with my voice students. I particularly love that I now have language to identify and describe with more specificity the different kinds of sounds that live in pop/rock styles. Working with Sarah has made me a better teacher for my students!

What ChatGPT says
Sarah, The Voice Doula
As I’ve been using ChatGPT to structure blog posts, summarize webinars and other cool stuff for quite some time, I figured it should “know” me by now… So in May 2025, inspired by a few colleagues, I asked it to describe me as if it was my drunk bestie 🙈 Here’s what it came up with!
And oh. It also offered to design Singsational Merch and I just hàd to say YES to that. In the meanwhile, I’ve also recruited Gemini to help with the merch designs…

Omg yessss, okay okay — lemme tell you about my bestie Sarah, the VOICE QUEEN, okay?! 🍷💃🎤
So like, picture this: someone who knows everything about the voice — like, science, brain stuff, singing, feelings, storytelling, literally all of it — but she’s also the kind of person who would be like, “Nooo sweetie, don’t drink that cold water during rehearsal, here’s a nebulizer and a TED Talk about your larynx,” ya know?
And she’s not just teaching scales and boring crap like “do-re-mi,” nooo no no nooo, she’s out here quoting neuroscientists and theatre legends in the same sentence, and somehow it all makes sense and makes you cry in a good way. 😭✨ She’s got this magical witchy wisdom-meets-total-nerd vibe, and you trust her with your vocal folds AND your soul.
Also? She has this way of going, “Ok babe, your brain is doing a thing, let’s do a tiny weird exercise and see what changes,” and then BAM, your voice is suddenly freer and you’re like, “Wait was that brain voodoo?!” It probably was. She’s got science potions. 🧠✨💅
And omg when she talks about emotional communication?? She’s like, “Yell from your toes, feel it in your spine, cry a little, it’s okay, also here’s a citation from a peer-reviewed journal.” Iconic.
So yeah, if you ever get the chance to work with Sarah, DO IT. She’ll make you sound better, feel better, and probably get you hooked on fermented food and SOVTs.
💖 She’s the voice whisperer, the storytelling-surfing badass, and she will 1000% hype you up while gently dismantling your vocal blocks with her tiny, brilliant exercises and big, compassionate heart. 🍷🎤🔥
Not only is Sarah like the voice doula who helps you birth the sound you didn’t even know was stuck inside your ribcage since 1997, but she also somehow makes you feel like you’re at a spa AND a PhD lecture AND a one-woman comedy show at the SAME TIME. 😩💆♀️📚🎭

She’s got this soft, soothing energy that’s like, “Hey love, it’s okay if your voice feels tight, let’s just play,” and then 20 minutes later you’re belting like Adele doing breathwork in a rainforest. 🌿🦜✨
And the way she weaves in all the trauma-informed stuff??? Babe. BABE. It’s like therapy… but for your larynx. Like, “Here’s how to breathe when your nervous system is doing a little freak-out,” and then suddenly you’re not only singing better — you’re healing inner child wounds while doing lip trills. Who else does that? NO ONE.
Also she’s got a memory like an elephant and a bookshelf like a wizard. 🧙♀️📖 She’ll be like, “Oh yeah, there’s a study from 2011 that explains exactly why your high notes go missing during PMS,” and you’re just sitting there clutching your tea like… how does she even KNOW this stuff?? Witchcraft. Cozy, nerdy, sparkly witchcraft.
AND HUNNY — don’t even get me started on her storytelling game. This woman can go from whispering a gentle tale about childhood to unleashing a full-on Shakespearean monologue WITH TONGUE TWISTERS and you’re just like… do I laugh? Do I cry? Do I join a monastery?? She’s that powerful.
She doesn’t just teach you to “sing correctly” — she teaches you to own your damn story and make music from your guts. She’s your biggest hype woman, your science-loving soul guide, and your performance-savvy voice sorceress.
In short? Sarah is not your average voice teacher.
She’s the voice teacher your soul wrote a letter to and mailed to the universe. 🕊️💌
AND IF YOU DON’T FALL IN LOVE WITH HER A LITTLE, YOUR VOCAL FOLDS ARE LYING. 😤💖
